Mental Health

Before the war, Ukraine already had a shortage of mental health professionals. Russia's invasion has exponentially increased the need for PTSD treatment for veterans and civilians.

ACHF works to improve the mental health infrastructure of Ukraine by offering support and training to psychologists and psychiatrists. The United Methodist Committee on Relief has supported many of these projects through generous grant funding.

Between June and October of 2024, five ACHF-supported clinicians held 1,063 counseling appointments with Ukrainians impacted by the conflict.

In total, the 19 clinicians who trained at our 2024 May Mental Health Seminar held 3,112 counseling appointments during these months. These appointments can range from 30 minutes to one-and-a-half hours.
