Who was Arlene Campbell?
Arlene Campbell
Arlene Campbell started a non-profit in 1989 called the Former Soviet Union Cultural Exchange. The organization sent shipping containers full of food, medical equipment, medicine, and supplies to the former Soviet states, as well as developed a student-teacher exchange program, all with help of a grant from the U.S. Department of State. This funding was eliminated and is no longer available.
Arlene was a visionary who was filled with faith and compassion. She was a widow who had no children. Therefore, her legacy of selfless humanitarian aid has inspired us to continue to seek to build capacity in the healthcare system of Ukraine. After the full scale invasion in 2022, our work greatly expanded. Now the Arlene Campbell Humanitarian Foundation’s mission is to provide help with the physical, mental and spiritual health of the Ukrainian people in times of crises.
