Forest Glade: Olha and Tetiana Continue PTSD Treatment with Patients
While in Ukraine in July of 2025, Lena Denman met with Olha and Tetiana at Forest Glade. Both clinicians attended our 2024 May Mental Health Seminar that covered prolonged exposure therapy as a means of treating PTSD.
Forest Glade treats many patients with PTSD, and recently has been treating individuals who were held captive by Russia as prisoners of war. With recent POW exchanges taking place, the need for psychological support has grown across Ukraine. Psychologists and psychiatrists are seeing more patients each day.
We are thankful to Olha and Tetiana – and the many other mental health professionals – for their dedication to Ukraine and the well-being of their fellow citizens. These clinicians have had no time to rest, and yet they are still serving their country through mental health care.
How can we assist? We can provide this rest and retreat for clinicians in a quieter part of Ukraine. We can provide continuing education. Treating former captives requires a strong skill set. We need to bring in more educational training for these psychologists.
Thank you to the United Methodist Committee On Relief for funding our initial PTSD training seminar for Ukrainian clinicians. As the need for mental health support grows, ACHF aims to provide additional training and encouragement to these clinicians.
