Volyn Region Clinic Thanks Texas Medical Distributors

"I would say that rehabilitation is a new thing in Ukraine. Understanding of rehabilitation has been insufficient until now," Ihor Hnetnov, acting director of the Volyn region clinic, said.

We shared this video at our Gratitude Event on Friday, May 2. The debut of the video was significant as our top donor, Ernie Cates from Texas Medical Distributors, was present at the event. The clinic featured in this video was one of five medical facilities to receive supplies from TMD in December of 2024.

"The tools you sent, such a braces, immediately began serving patients," Ihor said.

The rehabilitation of veterans has become a significant aspect of Ukrainian health care over the last three years. Even before Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, the Volyn region experienced a large number of civilians taking up the fight against oppression. Ihor explained that the need for rehabilitation in this area has been noticeably rising since 2014.

While Ihor explains the development of rehabilitation methods in Ukraine, he also discusses the need for additional support in other areas such as mental health.

"There are many psychologists, but very few who are trained to work with PTSD," he said. "If we understand that a specialist has no experience, we teach and learn ourselves. We don't have much time because there will be a lot of patients. We try to learn quickly and pass on our experience."

Ihor and the team at this Volyn region clinic expresses immense gratitude for the donation from TMD. Rehabilitation work is hard and support like this is a huge encouragement to the clinic staff and patients.

In total, $12,227.16 (US dollars) worth of equipment was directed to this hospital from TMD's donation. The shipment included shin braces, blood pressure kits, crutches, wheelchairs, canes and other vital medical rehabilitation equipment. This is only a fraction of TMD's total donation.

Thank you, Ernie Cates, for your unprecedented support. The donations you provided have made noticeable impacts for our partners. We are grateful to TMD and our generous donors for helping soldiers and veterans rehabilitate physically and mentally from the trauma of combat.
