Ukrainian Children's Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery receives vital cardio supplies
On May 16, 2025, a shipment of cardiology supplies arrived at the Ukrainian Children's Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery (UCCC). The shipment was equal to $97,973.00 USD and consisted of 10 Inspiris Resilia aortic valves in various sizes and 25 Fogarty Dilation Atrioseptostomy Catheters produced by Edwards Lifesciences.
"Today, we received a parcel that you have all been working on for the past year. We are incredibly happy to receive this help from you. It will save the lives of dozens of our little patients," Dr. Andrii Maksymenko said. "I repeat once again that this is a unique help for us, since many things are not available in Ukraine. And you are the only one who could make it possible. Currently, life in Ukraine depends, in most cases, on the support of international partners. And I am incredibly glad that we have you, wonderful friends who support us in difficult times."
This donation was made possible through MAP International and their partnership with Edwards Lifesciences. Our shipping partners at AEC Parcel Service ensured that the cardio supplies arrived safely in Ukraine. First, the package was shipped to Chicago ($330.59 USD) and then internationally ($1,816.00 USD). In total, the shipping cost was $2,146.59 USD. A small price to pay for such an amazing amount of medical supplies. We are so thankful that this shipment made it safely to the UCCC – many lives will be saved with the supplies!
Dr. Maksymenko said “These high-quality balloons and prosthetic valves will allow Ukrainian children with complex congential and acquired heart diseases to receive timely, durable, and life-changing interventions. Your support directly expands our capacity to perform definitive repairs, improving long-term health outcomes and giving each young patient the chance to live a healthier, fuller life. Thank you for standing with us and investing in the future of our children. Your commitment to advancing pediatric cardiac care in Ukraine is both inspiring and profoundly appreciated.”
Dr. Maksymenko anticipates that these supplies will help 35 Ukrainian beneficiaries, 17 girls ages 0-17, and 18 boys 0-17. Additional thanks to our generous donors who continuously support our efforts to provide aid to Ukraine. Without you, this donation of life-saving equipment would not have been possible!
".. In times of depression and disappointment, your care is a ray of sunshine that inspires hope and motivation," Dr. Maksymenko concluded. "I hug you and thank you from the bottom of my heart."
