Christmas at a Children’s Boarding House in the Kyiv District
Back in December, Lena Denman and Maria Ivanova visited a boarding house in the Kyiv district. While there, they passed out gifts and Christmas lights for the children's rooms.
"Children come to stay for many months who do not have parents or their parents are unable to care for them. Sometimes a child's parent is deployed in the current conflict with Russia," Lena said.
"We have orphaned children from the frontline areas here. They now have guardian parents. Here they receive treatment and rehabilitation," one of the caregivers explained.
Through your generosity, ACHF was able to pass out gifts to 23 kids at the boarding house –– two gifts to each kid! The Christmas joy was unmistakable!
Thank you, donors, for helping to buy these gifts and support Lena's trip overseas. Additional thanks to the United Methodist Committee on Relief who helped support this trip and the mental health initiative work that was done on this trip as well.
In troubling times, it is encouraging to look back on the successful projects we have been able to complete for Ukraine. Something as small as receiving a gift makes a world of a difference to these children who have endured so much.
