(Physical) Boryspil Multidisciplinary Hospital receives WASH items

In mid May 2023, we did something a bit different and tackled the problem of Soviet era washing equipment still being used at a large hospital in Boryspil, Ukraine. Throughout our visit in Ukraine, we saw multiple health facilities need the same reforms to their washing machines. Unfortunately, many nonprofits provide household washers and dryers. An ACHF Board member named Oksana would not let that happen in this case. While purchasing household washers and dryers is quicker, it is not a good solution to a hospitals hygiene needs.

On the left is the old industrial rolling pin that presses the hospital’s linens at the Boryspil Multidisciplinary Intensive Care Hospital КНП «Бориспільська багатопрофільна лікарня інтенсивного лікування». The purchase of 2 industrial washing machines, 1 industrial dryer and 1 industrial roller for $34,094.00 USD thanks to our partner, UMCOR - United Methodist Committee On Relief will allow all of the hospital’s 10,500 beds to receive fresh linens washed with very good equipment. Thus this purchase and delivery improves the sanitation and hygiene of the hospital.
